On our way to Disney world

We all tagged along with George to a conference in Florida earlier this month and took the girls to Disney World for the first time. I was there as a kid but George has never been until now.
Three cuties on the airplane. I love Clara’s chubby arm wrapped around Lydia.

George and Grace watching hgtv channel. Gracie is getting so grown up! She’s getting tall and looks a lot older with her front teeth missing!

Happy birthday Elliana!

Elliana recently turned 5! She had a few friends over on a Sunday afternoon to help her celebrate. Excitement was running high of course as we decorated two nights before the party.
I do have other pictures somewhere but am not seeing them right now. Here’s a photo of my first homemade ice cream cake. It was a hit and very delicious.

Experimenting in the kitchen

I think this was the first science class George has taught our girls. We were a little behind with some of our experiments because I failed to make sure we had all necessary ingredients and materials on the days we were supposed to do certain experiments. Thus, we did a Saturday afternoon catch up with daddy. While doing the different experiments, Grace kept saying over and over very excitedly, “this is great! This is just great!!”  They explored oil and water and learned what hydrophobic/hydrophilic meant and also did experiments with fizz, which everyone including George kept referring to as fuzz. We discovered that soda and lemon juice also fizzes as it does with vinegar (this was Graces idea..she said, “lemon juice is an acid…lets see what happens if we use it instead of vinegar”). The fizz is different though…you should try mixing up the two different concoctions and see what you think.
The outfits were also their ideas 🙂 our old lab  coats from working at Northwestern and sunglasses, i.e. Safety glasses.

It’s out!

Grace’s two front top teeth have been loose for a long time. One in particular has been very loose of late. Two nights ago, we tied floss around it and Grace was going to pull it out. She got too scared to do it herself and asked us if she left the floss on if we would pull it out while she slept (as if she was under anesthesia). We asked her how we would know if she was really asleep and she said if we told her “Grace, the British are coming!” and she didn’t awaken, then she was really asleep. A few hours later, before we went to bed, we did all she asked. She didn’t awaken to “th British are coming” or when I yanked in the floss. The floss snapped when I pulled in it and the tooth remained intact. 😦

Tonight after I put the girls to bed, one by one, they all trickled into my room starting with Clara. She’s was scared and wanted to snuggle. Amazingly tonight I had the house tidy and dishes done and was putting the kids in bed before 8. I’ve been feeling under the weather with a cold I caught from Clara and Lydia and don’t feel well tonight. I welcomed the snugglers. Grace was the last one in. She must have been wiggling her tooth because she came in and it was pulled out and twisted around. It looked like there should be no reason it was still attached. She said she wanted to pull it out tonight. I ended up doing the pulling and …    …Ta-da! Here she is folks! This tooth fairy needs to get her wings on and take care of some business. Tooth fairies are kind of like moms: always on call, even when sick. Have a good night!

I did it!

I was able to make the birthday doll dress this morning. I wasn’t sure it would turn out because I didn’t have a pattern. It’s not perfect and has some extra fabric folded over inside but looks good on the outside :). Now to make Ellie a matching dress!

Baltimore blizzard 2016

We got a record snowfall last Friday and Saturday. Almost 30 inches! Thankfully, George wasn’t on call and we didn’t have to be anywhere. We just stayed home for several days, played in the snow, watched movies, ate treats, had our neighbors over, went to our neighbors house, started shoveling out and waited for the plows to come.

George had a flight at 6am Monday morning to go to the Midwest for an interview. He ended up leaving Sunday night. He had to hike out of our neighborhood to a Main Street to have an uber car pick him up. He stayed at the airport Sunday night and was able to go to the interview and flew home Tuesday night.
